Late night walk

I grabbed this on way home after The George Bushes Boxing Day show at New City. I was drunk and wobbling my way home at 2 am and I some how managed to get this photo with out a tripod.
The Car
So Here I am at coffee with Miranda and I smell like a carburetor or well I guess ,more specifically I smell like carb cleaner. You see we have been having a bit of a running issue with our car as of late and we think that we have narrowed it down to a dirty fuel system so when we arrived at keegans I filled the carb with Cleaner and created a huge plume of blue and black smoke to come out of our exhaust with is btw right buy the engine. So ya needless to say the blue black plume of smoke had an associated smell that was attached to it. And well that smell has decided to make my clothes its new home . So I can say (without pride for this is feet some nights) that I am the smelliest person in keegans. So I will go out in a bit and start our car so it can produce more bright blue and black plumes of smoke, and guarantee my status of the smelliest guy in keegans.
Still on the note of the car, I have another story that I can tell. So our Bug needs brakes in the back right? (Well being that you are all not in a position to answer I will for you) Right. We look in the VW Bible and we came to the conclusion that we can do this our selves and save lots of money. I mean I grew up on a farm I have done this sort of thing numerous times. So we get the parts that are required for this and other minor repairs that need to be done, and we settle in to fix the back brakes. We jack and block it up and pull of the tire on the driver’s side. We are getting ready to show this thing who’s boss, sleeves are rolled up and our meager tools are gathered around, and the John Muier book (the VW Bible) is laying open in Miranda lap. First step: Consult the bible. “Alright” Miranda says, the first thing that we need to do is take of the larger nut on the axel so we can take to drum off.” I am like ok that should be no problem. I inspect the nut and think mmmm… We that is a little larger then my largest wrench…. Well I have these pliers while it is not the best thing it is the best that I have. (Insert the grunting and swearing that occurred while I attempted to take of said nut.)
After a time of trying different techniques, trading off with Miranda and mike, we all came to the same conclusion that we were going to need the appropriate tool to succeed in removing this nut. So we pile into Mikes Golf and off we go to Crappy tire to get a medium pipe wrench. We are pleased with feeling of brute power that emanated from the large iron pipe wrench. We left Crappy tire with a feeling of immense superiority, and power, we felt that that silly bolt will not even see us coming and that we would have zero trouble from this point on. Well we get back to the car and we size the pipe wrench to the appropriate size, get it on the nut, and grab a good grip of the handle and pull. I pulled and I pulled and I succeeded in doing nothing, absolutely nothing. Oh that is on there tight. It was at this moment that Miranda found this Diagram in the john Muier book that involves a long pipe, socket and feet.
Oh ok well we will get in to that tomorrow.
Tomorrow
We bought the biggest socket that I have ever owned and a three-foot driver to stick on the end, and not wanting to fuck around we stopped of on the way home and bought a 2 foot hunk of pipe as well. So we bring this home and we are feeling like we are bloody invincible, that there is nothing that is going to stop us from removing this silly nut. So we get home and we break out the tools and pipe, get the socket on the nut, the driver on the socket, and the pipe on the driver, and we get ready to go for it I start pulling, and pulling and The car is moving forward, odd. I make sure that the car is in gear and the E-brake is on and I start pulling again, this time the driver is bending and the car is still rolling forward. Mmmm… I am tougher then I thought :) Ok Miranda gets in the car and presses on the brake as hard as she can and I start again. After a liberal hosing of WD-40 I hook up the socket to the Nut the Driver to the socket, and the pipe to the driver and this time I also decide that there has been a demonstrated need to involve the services of our newly acquired ball peen Hammer to the mix as well. So I have the socket, the driver, the pipe, and the Hammer. (Song of the day in anticipation of the upcoming Pixies One Devine Hammer) Miranda is on the brake and we begin I am pushing and pushing and the driver is bending the car is trying to move forward and the Nut hasn’t moved a bit. I feel at this point that it is time to start hammering the piss out of the pipe as the Muier book has said Pushing and Hammering and the driver is bending and a hernia is eminent and… Nothing! Not a damn thing. So I try it again after a bit of a rest only thins time I omitted the hammer, I am pushing and pulling and huffing and puffing and Bang the whole Socket and driver and pip fall to the floor. I look and I actually broke the driver I broke ? inch of tempered steel that is meant to be reefed on. It is crazy so needless to say that is going back to Crappy tire and the car still needs brakes
Well it is in
Well there is an up side to all things. This morning I had to haul my ass out of bed at some god awful hour to Drive Miranda to the Airport (going to Calgary) the upside is I got to run around and pick up a few copies of the latest SEE magazine that has MY PHOTO ON THE COVER!!!!

While it is not the photo that I would have chosen it is very cool indeed. So every one come on out to The George Bushes CD Release party at The Sidetrack Cafe tomorrow, and buy their CD so they can get really rich and pay me (just kidding about the pay of course, but make for damn sure that you buy a CD)

Busy day today :) On the weekend we received a request for wedding info from our website. So we were sorta busy making up reply and a quote. (well truth be told Miranda was busy) It would appear that they were pleased with either our work or the price (Chances are it was the later) because they both emailed and called yesterday and this morning looking to see more of our work. So Miranda and I are in the process of getting all the wedding info together so we can present it in a fantastically wowing way. They also let us know where the Church is that they are getting married at, so after work today Miranda and I are going to run out to take a look.
I also got all the Division and Wellesley Photos finished last night so I am getting them on a CD and meeting with Eli and Jeff tonight. I am quite pleased with quite a few of them. I ended up with about 80 that are decent shots, that I have quickly Photoshoped and I have them almost ready to though on a CD. There are some that are perfect for the cover of See and/or Vue. All and All I am quite pleased with the results
I will post some later But I am at work right now and
The Shiznit
So it is Saturday and Here I am at work again writing a interrupted and poorly composed blog entry. I do swear that I am going to write a real blog post sometime soon. But well here is goes.
The New iPAQ
So we bought a 2200 series iPAQ last week which I have bogged about already, it was a fantastic unit that is the best thing that has ever happened when it comes to me being organized. In the first week of owning it I finished 20 of the things that I have been meaning to do for about two to three weeks. So this thing is the coolest unit ever!! Well almost the coolest unit ever. It needs Internet to take it to the next level of cool. So in an attempt to rectify this lack of cool we bought a San disk 128 / WiFi card that is both a storage Card and a 802.11b WiFi card in one Compact flash unit. Thought wow this is the solution to all of our troubles it is everything that one needs to lead a happy and full life, right? Well not quite. The WiFi card did connect to networks and there was data flow and all the other things that make a Wireless connection the ultimate shiznit. However, it would only connect to said network when it felt that the time was right. It had to be in the mood to transfer data and be a good wireless card, and when it was in a bad mode it would just cut in and out at random for extended periods of time which was far more infuriating then it simply not working at all. I am not sure if the star’s needed to be in a particular alignment, if I needed to be doing the two step in a monkey suit. Or if I needed to be holding my tongue in the right position, humming the theme to deliverance, all while jumping up and down on the rotten remains of a black and white male chinchilla that happened to die from a lightning strike in the dead of winter. In the end I wasn’t actually able to determine If any of these techniques would have been effective or what else may have been required to make the thing work as it should, but I decided that I would stop this madness before it turned into offerings of pulverized network cards at the base of the router or flinging goats blood about the space that existed between the router and the WiFi card. I decided that I would look for a technical solution; I reinstalled newest drivers, updated the Rom on the iPAQ, tried different computers, different routers, and even exchanged the iPAQ for another one and tried that. So after a plethora of trouble shooting, that included phone calls to the tech support help desks of both San disk and HP (both of which determined that their respective hardware was the one that was malfunctioning) I thought that I would take the whole shittery back to thier respective stores, and buy a HP iPAQ 4150 instead. You see the 4100 series is the same thing as the 2200 except it has built-in WiFi, a better more efficient battery, a smaller and sleeker look, a IR port that is on the bottom of the iPAQ (good for my keyboard) and it is actually less money then the 2200 and the optional WiFi card.
Photo shoots
I had a photo shoot with Division & Wellesley a local artist that is fantastic and is having a CD release party at the Sidetrack Caf?. (I am not sure when) Jeff is this cool guy that has this cool pad south of Whyte Ave that is a emo as you can get. But that sort of makes sense cause the guy is as emo as you can get. We did a whack of photos in his living room kitchen and bathroom. We went out and about near the downtown area and tried some shots near this hotel and a parkade in the area. I think that we have some really neat stuff that we can use here. This is another hey these may be on the cover of See Magazine in coming weeks but I will as always believe it when I see it. I really need to PS this and get back to Eli and Jeff soon.
I also have some more good news on the George Bushes and the See magazine front. It appears that we again have the cover on the upcoming issue. We will see and believe it when it happens as before. They are choosing between two photos and I really really hope that they choose one over the other because the one isn’t a very good photo. I also have a potential meeting with another band tomorrow morning to discuss a shoot and a shoot with a model tomorrow afternoon. I hope that it is really nice outside because I want to go out and about. Plus I need to finish a whack of photos for three models that I had a while back, and a website that needs to be up SOON! Busy beaver here I tell you.
The Pixies
So I am not sure if Miranda has told every one about The Pixies tickets fiasco involving a phone call to the UK and an email to ebay? It is really her story to tell so I will leave it to her. However, suffice it to say that we have two physical tickets in hand for Thursdays show at the Commodore as well as our two physical tickets in hand for the Edmonton Show. We are all about the physical in hand tickets :) and that the whole pixies thing is costing us way to much money I am sure but it is really worth it because The pixies are the reason that I am not listening to Dwight Yoakum, or Mega Death/Def Leopard as I would have is the social engineering that occurs in a small town had its way. I owe the pixies a great deal and while I know that I don’t really have the money to even begin thinking about this But I could see my self becoming a groupie and following them around like a crazed teenager. But at the way that tickets are sold it would require a arge bank loan to do so.
The Car
We took the car into West side yesterday and had them take a look at it tell us what was wrong with it, adjust the valves, and change the oil. I hung around in the shop and the old guy who was doing the inspection was going though all the things showing me what was what on the car. But all said and done the car is in really good shape; the engine is as we thought is in mint shape. The front end is in good shape it just needs some wheel bearings, We need rear breaks and maybe drums which is the biggest thing on the whole car. The heater boxes aren’t rusted out or anything, the lack of heat on the driver’s side is most likely do to the cable that opens and closes the heater box. So we are going to see how much it is to fix some things and if they are really cheap to do we will get West side to do it if not we will do it our self. So it will be in fantastic shape to go to Van in a few weeks.
So after work tonight we are off to fillips for a B-day get together with food and drink and all sorts of fun. I am going to try and call HP on my next break to try and get them to send out the part that was not in the box of my newest iPAQ. It is so bloody slow here but I don’t really want to go on the Go Home early list because I am getting paid 15.75/hour to post to my blog. :) For that I will stay till I am at least done the blog post, and some other emails and stuff. It is almost my last break and I think that I have taken 20 calls max! being that the average length of a call is about 4 min I have spent about and hour and a half actually working and the rest of the time bloging and surfing and really not doing much of anything at all. I really sorta like getting paid an exorbitant amount of money to dick around on a computer. It is a good gig I tell you. So In an attempt to keep from getting bored I will keep blithering till I get off work. :) or at least till my next break which Is coming soon.

3 commentsSo I am work right
So I am work right now. I really have to stop writing my blog posts at work. I need to start devoting time in my day to write an entry that isn’t tainted with constant interruptions. I here by vow to compose my next post from a quiet place that I am not being interrupted and I can finish a thought in a single sitting. I vow it. I will take my iPAQ to Keegans with some Mp3’s on it and go hard there, or something. Anyway. My week, Well on Friday I had a photo shoot with the Gb’s for there press kits and the potential See & or Vue Mag cover. It was an absolute blast! We did these crazy mocking of the typical band photos that a lot of bands have.
No commentsThis post was Brought to you from my new Ipaq
So this is the first post written and posted on my new Hp iPAQ. It is the latest thing that we ought for the business. I also have this really neat keyboard that we bought for the thing that interfaces via the IR port and allows me to type at a reasonable speed. It is sorta small so it slower then the average keyboard but it is cool because my spelling errors have decreased substantially because I am typing as fast as I should be thinking as opposed to the type it all out and use the spell checker later method that I have used in the past. So ya it is a really neat little unit. That has built in bluetooth and an optional compact flash or SD expansion. After work I am going to run to Compusmart and see if they have a CF wireless card for it. I saw online that they have a Compact flash/wireless card that is also a 128 flash memory card. I called about it and they don’t have any in store but they can get them in. So I will go after work and put down there 15% that they need to special order it in. I might look at buying it online because it will take the same amount of time I am sure. I kinda want to get it before this things 15 day return runs out. I mean if this isn’t able to operate like I think it can in a networked environment then I could make do with a far cheaper version of it. MMmm. If I order on line it may come quicker. I am at work right now typing away about not much, so although my spelling may have improved i still ramble like a lobotomised chimp.
I suppose I can divulge the big News that everyone keeps asking about even if it isn’t 100% fir sure at this point. I have been doing a lot of work with The George Bushes taking photos and what have you for there promo Cd and what not. Well the big news come from they are having a CD release party March 19th at the Side track Caf? (Everyone better be hauling your asses out and seeing this show.) So they are having this huge write up in See Magazine promoting their release party, complete with they get the full cover spread on the march 18th issue. The cool News is that they want me to take the promo photos for the issue. ME! Ya it will be really cool if all works out, it would be my first published work yaa. So I have the next two days off and then I work for One day and then another one off then I don’t remember. But ya I can again go the mighty house of Keegans and spend hours and hours and there is nothing that they can do because I am not using there electricity. I t will take a little getting used to but I have all the main programs right here. Any way I am done work so I will stop now.
