This is the Okotoks Erratic near Okotoks on Highway 7. It was really funny cause we were driving along and josh is like I think there is a big rock around here that is supposed to be cool. I am not really sure where this is but I have heard of a big rock! and I was like that one! pointing to this huge rock jutting out from the otherwise flat prairie! We were going to drink a big rock on the big rock (I don’t think anyone has cause the rock was littered with Kokanee & Pilsener cans) but being that I was hungover from the night before and we had a whack of driving ahead, I declined! Anyway go here for more info

I can stick my holga fisheye on all kinds of things

So I have a fisheye lens for my holga and lately I have been sticking it on every camera I can find including my Finepix s700 point & shoot. Good times indeed :) I can also stick it on my video camera, and if i am feeling very adventurous i can even hold it up to my eye and walk about!

Polaroid of the Chess Playing Dude in Calgary.

Well I am back from our epic road trip to Banff and Calgary! Josh and I left Thursday morning (only 45min late :p) and fired out towards Banff stopping along the way for photo glory. We both stocked up on film for our various Polaroid & film cameras, as well as I had my Canon nearby for the entire trip. (I do endeavour to get some of these photos on the blog before I am 50) The actual purpose of our road trip was to go and see Matthew Good play in Banff. (Not that Matt Good reads my blog but I would totally pay 5 bux for a improv show by the way!!) It was an awesome show filled with tonnes of witty banter! It was funny for the second time ever I decided that it would be best to leave my camera behind! I did for Regina Spektor and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I wasn’t overly concerned about jockeying for position or where the best photo would be, I just sat back and enjoyed it! The same held true here I had a good time with out any cameras! We crashed out at the Best Western in Banff and I swear we were the only ones in the hotel! I was like a bad horror movie really. They had lots of coffee two steps from our door so I drank coffee most of the night. :) After Banff we meandered off to Calgary for a few days to hang out with some of Josh’s friends including A from the Awesome Unit (long story) and Kim. Good time all around! There was some Calgary photo wandering which including this.

The Chess playing Dude in Calgary!

This is a photo I have been waiting to take for 4 or 5 years :) It has fond memories from my days in Calgary! Mostly involving some beer and some late night shenanigans but fond none the less!

This is a shot of this random lake on the Transcanada. I liked it and I like it even more in Polaroid form! I must get back to work but there will be more to come!

A Seagull came to my house and I am going to name it Jonathan Livingston

So today the Canada post guy came and brought me something special! He brought me a Seagull from china. No it isn’t a bird and No I need not be worried about the H5N1 Virus! No sir what the Canada post guy brought me was a different kind of seagull. He brought me a limited Edition Seagull TLR Camera in RED/GOLD.

Seagull Twin Reflex CameraSeagull Twin Reflex Camera

Seagull Twin Reflex Camera
The Seagull is a super cool China built Twin Lens Reflex camera! It will take 12 6cm x 6cm exposures on a regular roll of 120 film. (Same as an old Hasselblad) A totally mechanical leaf shutter (IE No batteries required) has speeds of 1/300 right down to 1 sec and bulb in full stop increments
The 75mm (I am guessing around 30mm in 35mm Equivalent) features a range of apertures from f/3.5 to f/22. It has a waist finder with a focusing loupe and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to see film with all kinds of weird parallax problems. Today Josh and I went for a wander and I shot a couple of rolls through it and dropped them off at Custom Color. We will see tomorrow what they yield

Yup this is something that you can order to eat at Vera’s Burgers! It took a team of people to prepare this monstrosity for Josh to eat!

Busy 24 hours

So it has been a busy 24 hours for me. Last night after our wedding was done Josh & I went for a midnight scoot. Took a few photos in the dark of night.

Rode a few trails and avoided getting caught up in a crazy ‘bush party’ in Stanley park.

This was Miranda when I told her how many photos we shot at our wedding! :)
