A walk in and out of G-town.

Today I was interviewed for the Gastown Gazette. They are that lovely hyperlocal rag that has been doing some great journalism around the anti-gentrification folks in our hood. You know, those folks that protest The Pigeon Restaurant, and wander though Gastown with hoods and torches…Yup I said hoods & torches… yup just like a Southern linch mob of old….

I imangine it was like this…well like this at about 59 seconds in that is :)

Anyway the Gastown Gazette broke the story of the flame wielding Gastown mob (I wonder what the carbon footprint of a flame wielding lynch mob is?) two days before the folks at the CBC. So what ever side of the whole anti-gentrification debate you stand on you have to admit that that is just good journalism.

Anyway the interview was about the arts and not the hood. I will let you know if & when it is posted :) but the walk there and back was a good one.

A Somewhat Long Walk For A Morning Coffee.

A couple of time a week I will wander over to the railtown JJ-Bean for a morning coffee. I as always take my camera and I always try and walk a different route. Today I decided to walk the long way around only to discover that the railtown JJ-Bean is closed today for renovations. I in fact even knew this… It was plastered all over the door and counter for at least the last week…. I even read it and made a mental note that they would be closed…. I remembered none of this till I got there. :) I instead walked to the Hogan’s Alley over in china town and these are the photos.

Holga Lens

So I got myself a Holga Lens for my digital camera. Being just as cheap as an actual Holga I had very little exceptions of this little fantastic plastic jem. However, on first run (after a slight mod) I am impressed to say the least! More to come after I have used it for a while :)

Picking on Complete Strangers

I had a boatload of things to mail for Indie I Do the other day. It must have been a combination of a super sunday day & the lunch hour, but my walk to the Post was the busiest I have seen these streets in quite a while.

I Am Currently Drunk In Cuba Right Now So You Still Get Pre-Recorded Content

I am currently basking on a warm beach with a cold Bucanero in my hand & well if you are reading this you’re not. Now because I am in the wondrous land of overly complicated internet, I am going to future post a few things for you all to read/look at while I am gone.

Lawnmower & bike racks

After a quick walk for free coffee at waves (i have wave’s ‘dollars’) I took this photos on the way back. Typical me however, I totally didn’t even see this when i walked by it 5 min earlier because I was looking at the minutiae of the wall beside it. More specifically the molding around a window on the wall beside it :)

it has been a busy weekend and first half of a week. Tonight i should be able to start remembering what the hell has been going on and write it down. Right now I must prepare for a small wedding :)
