Sometimes, the best way to get to know a new Jeep is just to take for a spin. So, with a bit of time to spare, I decided to head up the Stawamus River Forest Service Road to the top end of Indian Arm.  I’ve driven this road many times before in Tiny The Jeep, but it’s been rebuilt almost end to end, so this time there wasn’t anything too challenging, but perfect for a little outing with a stock Jeep.

One of my favorite campsites is tucked away up here, right where the river meets the ocean, but every time I try to grab this spot, it’s always packed with weekend campers. On a tuesday, mid-week and off-peak, I got to check it out in peace. I parked and watching the seals playing and sunning them selfs on the rocks. Plus the sailboats drifting by was a nice bonus. This was a good reminder of why this spot’s always on my radar but with the rebuilt road I doubt it will ever be available again:)

I couldn’t resist getting the Jeep a little dirty. Nothing too wild, just a bit of gravel dust and mud, just enough to start breaking it in. On the way back, I stopped to explore some old ruins I’d spotted from the road. Not sure what they used to be, but I’ll take any excuse to get out and wander a bit.

All in all, it was a fun little in-and-out adventure that took less than three hours total. The new Jeep handled the gravel well but I would have liked to had a reason to stick it in 4 Wheel drive once, but I did get a feel for how it moves on these back roads. Not a bad start to our adventures together!
