My ONA Brixton bag has been with me pretty much daily for many years now. Oh…Wow! When I looked up when I bought it, it was in 2014 so was 10 years ago! I love this bag…

…I don’t love that I am getting to be all old man like and not really comfortable walking for hours everyday with a cross body messenger bag :(

See the story is this. A while back I started seeing a personal trainer and while working with her I discovered that my body is tight and sore and pretty much in need of some hard core stretching and what not :) This wasn’t really news to me, I after all am the one living in this body. What was news to me was that all of this tight/sore/etc. was way way worse on one side of my body than the other and for the life of me I couldn’t really figure it out…. Till the other day when I wandered the length of Lonsdale 4 times and while there wasn’t much in my ONA bag (just spare lens and a film back) I was dying one one side of my body by the time I got back to the jeep. I might have found the source of my lopsidedness :)

In an effort to fix that, I picked up a small backpack for these wanders.

I have really liked Peak Design stuff since they first came out with the Capture clip on kickstarter all those years ago. I have had the Capture clip and the strap clips on all my gear for as long as I can remember. I also have been a big fan of the Peak Design Travel Tripod which is what I pretty much always take if I need a set of sticks on a photowalk.

In fact I have been rocking the Travel Tripod with the ultralight conversion kit that makes the tripod almost half the weight and particularly with the waist level finder of the Hasselblad I am never needing to get the camera up to eye height anyway :)

I was always skeptical of the Everyday bags but after poking about at this one for an overly long time at Kerrisdale Cameras on Lonsdale I figured I would give it a go. After working out the best way to divide and stash gear I was able to get a stupidly large amount of stuff into this bag.

All of this fits quite comfortaly into this bag.

The dividers take a bit of getting used to but they are surprisingly useful. I should be able to reconfigure the bag as needed without much fuss. One thing I wish the dividers were receptive to the hook side of velcro as they are a smooth material. I would have liked to be able to split these cubbies in half vertically but they are still quite useful. I did add a padded divider or two to help with the configuration.

One thing that my ONA Brixton was not great at was the 16 inch MacBook Pro. I used to be able to carry a 13 inch or even a 15 inch in the inside divider but the 16 was just to big for the included divider in the ONA. while I could fit in there it wasn’t super elegant. This bag however can totally fit my 16 inch MacBook without fuss. That was an awesome surprise.

I don’t imagine that I will carry this much stuff all the time. I imagine it would be more like The Hasselblad and the Leica each with a second lens and a spare battery. Maybe a film back or something but to be able to easily stick the kitchen sink in here is pretty awesome. I have ordered the sold separately waist belt as this is pretty heavy when loaded up like this so we will see what that is like when It arrives.

Thus far I have taken one photo walk and it was super comfortable and I didn’t even feel lopsided. Time will tell as I use this more.
