Walk About Nanaimo Street – Yellow

This was the first photowalk that wasn’t ‘work related’ in a long while it was beyond glorious and very yellow it would seem. Side note The commission as some of you know did not work out very well. Short version they didnt want an artist they wanted a hired gun. I think that they may have thought that approaching “a poor starving artist” would be a cheaper alternative to hiring a “real” photographer, But yeah Fuck the commission and all that stress that went with it! I managed to get some great work out of it and I am going to use it all in some sort of rejected showing and call it all good. As such I wont be spending all my time on other peoples bullshit meaning I will be spending more time with mine!

Like the Nanaimo & Hastings Street area! What an untapped area of awesome! :)

More photos from our road trip back home this last week. I am constantly amazed at how small towns do not really change over time, there may be a new store here and there or more likely the change is the name of the store. To explain I find it really funny that all the change i could find in E-town and in Westlock was that all the businesses i knew are no longer there but they are replaced with a nearly identical retailer with a different name. Examples are the bargain shop is replaced with another bargain shop type business with a different name or logo. Clothing shops on Whyte Ave are still clothing shops but they are selling under a different name. Or the rotating restaurant/bar that is always in the same location and in fact reopens with a new name but with no other renovations :)

More colour from my trip to the camera show last week. I heart New West for its old broken buildings. I fear that they are going to “clean up” the neighborhood and build shinny new uninteresting condos before I get a chance to explore them all. I suppose some sort of concerted effort on my part may be in order. :)

I enjoy that almost all the A’s are missing of some of the signs. I wonder if they were stolen or if there wasn’t enough A’s in the letters that they used? :)

Electrical Back Alley Randomness

I am going to start running electrical conduit to random places.

On a tottaly differnt note I am super excited to see some new snow on Cypress even if it is really a token amount. My plan is to head up tomorrow and see what the mountian is like.

And not a super awesome snowboarding day like it was yesterday.  The weather was awesome and the snow was quite good once it all softened up around mid day. I went up sky chair for the first time ever and what a crazy crazy view form up there.

Today’s photos are from the other day’s photo wander, I am thinking I am going to try and get away for a couple hours on Sunday and do some more wandering about perhaps New West or something, who knows, anyway I have a client soon so I best find a clean shirt or something.
