New Home For Our 4 Wheeled Friends.

We have moved on up in the land of our parking! Yup we went from this

to this

stuff-005

Ya I know it is a little bit over kill with the razor wire and locked gates and such but what can I say it is a far bigger parking space that will allow us to park two autos for the price of around 1.5! I will also bring my kayaks home from there storage rack on Granville island, which means we then save on those monthly mooring costs there! Who knows they may even get used once in a while if they are close to home :)

The Beetle is Alive!

Yuppers the great beetle with no name (I am not sure why I haven’t named it, we have only had it for like 5-6 years) is rocking out with its proverbial cock out! :) It is summer and i had to move it and deal with it, so We insured it and fixed up some stuff on it like a even more new clutch…. GRRRrrrrr… (the long story short is that the new clutch and pressure plate which had maybe 1500 miles on it, broke! Yuppers that pressure plate physically broke!) $650 later the bug has a new clutch once again! :)

Sitting for two years was really hard on the poor guy, the areas that were rusted a little bit have turned into fairly bigger bits. Not to worry however for a $500 dollar order into Cip1.ca, a solid weeks worth of work, and a paint job, I think our green beetle with black interior can become a two tone Orange/White with an light white or oatmeal interior.
Kinda like this

Not my photo I robbed it from the internet!

So good news is that the seat repair is fully on track! I simply need a welder for 15 min to fix this…

Yuppers no more spare tire to hold up the seat needed :) Which I really like because the spare tire is supposed to be looking pretty in the front dammit! :) I swapped the passenger & driver seats last night so I can drive it with out cuddling with both the steering wheel and the floor, and now the beetle is like a Mexican cab :)

I hosed down and wiped the whole inside with a disinfectant cleaner to take care of any mold issues that may have erupted in the last 4 months. With the seats fully out I was also able to clean up the floor and inspect the seat tracks which are in need of some love but other wise look solid and awesome.

All of the inside carpet is gone and the floor is cleared out awaiting some new, paint, sound dampening pads, carpet, and lastly some heavy duty rubber floor mats. All in all we are in great shape to fix up any issues that we have with out a lot of work or money which is exactly what I like to hear :)

OK going for a drive now :)

Random Volkswagen

I am off to the Frog for a beer and a Veggie Burger (with bacon) so you get a photo of a car that I took today while looking for a camera strap that doesn’t say CANON DIGITAL in big red letters.

This is a crappy cell phone pick but it is of my lovely & dirty beetle! I drove it over to its new parking spot toady!!! Man I miss it!

I Was Browsing The Archives When I Came Across This Photo.

An Old photo of our VW

Yupers that there is our VW bussy in all its glory! Oh how I miss it some days.

So I got a new camera!

After wanting a Medium format camera for years I bought a used Mamiya RB67 complete with a Polaroid Back! Last night I went out and took some long exposures with Polaroid film :)

As well as night shots, I have taken some Polaroids of random things in our house.

I can also shoot regular film but that isnt nearly as fun as this :)

Photo Friday – Red

I know, I know, I am not one to actually participate in Photo Friday. In fact I think that the last time I did was March of last year. Yup March. But you see I am still diligently receiving my Photo Friday email every week and I have good intentions of someday actioning on one. I refuse to unsubscribe to what is basically junk in my inbox, for I feel deep down in my soul that I will again someday choose to participate. Well folks the waiting is over, only 52 Photo Fridays later, I post again!

These are dug up from the deep dark depths of the horribly organized Archives of the instiute. Speaking of the archives I really want a good cataloging program, or some coder out there to give me Getty’s with a nice gui front end and batch key-wording. (And don’t tell me about Extensis Portfolio. I have killed Portfolio. It crapped out. Apparently when the database and folders that it was running off of get to be in excess of 32gig the entire thing breaks down. Who knew that 200 and some DVD’s of photos would add up to 32gig of database and thumbnails. But that is another story for another time.) Any way here they are found the old fashioned way (I simply looked for red things) for your viewing pleasure.

Colour Infra-red

Hurray the beetle has heat again :) Well it always had heat but I think the cables that command the heat got disconnected when the transmission was done and then didn’t get reconnected, that or the came disco’ed on there own. Also a possibility. So on a crappy wet morning like today when heat is sometimes a help I got to crawl under the car and reconnect them. :) No biggy it is fun to get soaking wet first thing in the morning.
Just waiting for the coffee to finish brewing and I am back at it for another fun filled day of post processing hell :) Don’t get me wrong I enjoy this more then anything but with the weather looking like winter is moving on in long before his possession date, I kinda feel like I missed summer.
Any way this was taken back when it still looked like summer. I will give a shinny, lollipop to any one that can tell me where this was taken.
