Here we have the very first roll shot in the very new to me Nikon F100. These were all shot with the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f1.4G lens with shots ranging from f/1.4 to f/8 The film was Kodak Tmax 400 pushed to 800.
I think that the auto-focus system might be a bit off. I was super super careful to make sure that stuff was in super sharp focus and I have a few shots that should have been in focus at f/1.4 but they weren’t. we will play a bit more and see. I want to take this to the Czech Republic at the end of next month so I wouldn’t mind being sure. The camera itself is very awesome. Fits nice in the hand and it has a satisfying shutter sound. It is however a little touchy on the shutter button. I managed to take 4 pictures on this roll when I was only meaning to meter on something :)
So one of the benefits of have an a tiny human is that you are up’n'at’em bright and freaking early :) As someone with kids I indirectly know once said “You know that you are a parent when you haven’t set an alarm clock on two years” As such the kiddo and I will often go for walks to run errands and such. This was from here in Railtown on our way to the JJ.Bean :)
This building houses The Warehouse Studio which in it’s self is super cool but I love it because when the light is just right these frosted windows that open into what I imagine is the studio’s courtyard become these wicked urban soft-boxes illuminating a shaded sidewalk/street area.
This morning was started by an awesome visit from clients & friends Sandra & Tyler who brought us donuts an coffee from Lucky’s Doughnut’s on main street and we had one of those good visits like i always imagined my parents did when i was a kid and the neighbour from up the road would just stop in for coffee.
I had to wander out and about the other night and as always I had my camera with me :) My goal was to not stop for more then a sec or so but still grab some sharp night photos (EG: shutters below 1/60th)
I sorta felt that these two photos were a great Ironic pairing :) I love street art! If i wasn’t so ‘lazy’ (aka I have 32 hobbies and a baby on the way) I would be a street artist!! I have to make the distinction between street art and tagging! Tagging is dumb! It is like a dog running about the neighbourhood pissing on things!! it is willfull property damage and completely self indulgent! Street art is just clever and awesome.
A couple of time a week I will wander over to the railtown JJ-Bean for a morning coffee. I as always take my camera and I always try and walk a different route. Today I decided to walk the long way around only to discover that the railtown JJ-Bean is closed today for renovations. I in fact even knew this… It was plastered all over the door and counter for at least the last week…. I even read it and made a mental note that they would be closed…. I remembered none of this till I got there. :) I instead walked to the Hogan’s Alley over in china town and these are the photos.
