Cobalt Motor Hotel

This shot is from a walk about I did last Saturday night. I was walking home from Cambie & Broadway (yes it was a bit of a walk but i like walking places) where we all had a glorious dinner of many yummy things like Mashed Potatoes, and spicy chickens.  I took this about 1am and it looked like the party was winding down outside the ‘club‘ that is the cobalt hotel. Now I have never been inside the cobalt but i have it under good authority (meaning this tiger) that it is a ‘great‘ place to see bands. However, the words GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS that are written in flashing Christmas lights above the main door lead me to believe otherwise.  This was shot hand held from across the street using the 5d mark II and a 50mm f/1.2.

My future intent is to do more hand held late night photo wanders. I know that this might sound super cliche, but the world is a completely different place at night and really high usable ISO’s are going to allow me to capture more of it. I also find it interesting that with the exception of this small group of people & a couple riding a bike, I saw no one other then security guards on my entire walk home. I saw like 10 extremely bored looking security guards and 11 regular people. Just my observation. Anyway think it may be crash time for this guy.

My good Friend Sera Lys was in town from LA this week & we went out and played in a random Richmond Field. These are the Jpgs directly out of camera, I was using a Alien Bees Flash and in camera profiles.  So Much Fun!!! We were also playing with Video but that will have to wait for another day!!

Yup our friend Kimberly had a party for house warming/birthday/just because. It had a large number of projectors and helium, & for the record a large number of projectors with plenty of helium = good times :)

We had a blast at party making a mess and drinking a mess of strawberry liquor, then we went to a place called 24/Thai on Broadway and oakish. Good food and as the name suggests open 24 hours a day :)

We watched a man pee all over a phone booth out side a 7-11 and when he was yelled at he turned mid-stream towards the parking lot with a prominent display of both devil horns and spraying penis!  I R drunk/tired so goodnight!

Before we can let this man marry our friend we determined that we needed to get know him. The quickest and easiest way to do that is to get him really drunk on shooters! that is exactly what we did! :) He seems swell :)

Yuppers it is NV09 and the weekend started as all good weekends do, on Thursday with beer and wine :) Tonight we went to Frederico’s Supper Club on the drive for the  NV09 party.  It was an evening filled with food, wine, a really Cheesy singing guy, and despite fears to the contrary I didn’t have to promise that my first born would be a liberal party member nor I wasn’t forced to drink some sort of liberal kool-aid by my local Liberal MLA.  It was all a good time really.

Sleeping till 3pm

Today I some how managed to sleep till 3pm and then do nothing all day.  I am some what of a broken man it owuld seem being that we nearly killed oursleves getting everything in order.  Our Photographer party was a raging sucsess with around 70 peeps coming on out to our pad. Thanks all that came, we are so glad that you could make it. Now I think that I am going to go back to bed.  :)

The Black Frog Turned 3 Last Night….

….and we all got loaded!! I even drunk blogged although there wasn’t a lot said in that post so you may have thought we were at a poetry reading or something.. Us, the North Shore Crew, D, and G all went down to the black frog’s birthday bash!

BTW thanks to Marion for all the invites we ate free food and drank really cheap drinks till well after they were closed! Good times were had all around!!

We met one of the frog’s new waitresses who prefers to be called Chain Saw Girl, and doesn’t ‘do’ the Internet :) All in all good times were had and i am sure that there are many people really hungover this morning due to Darren and his uncanny ability to know the exact wrong time to start ordering shots! :)

I managed to stay reasonably coherant (mostly due to my uncanny ability to say no to darren’s shots) throughout the evening and I even took some photos and I am doing fine all bright eyed and bushy tailed today.  M on the other hand looks as though she will not make it through the day.
