So I got myself a Holga Lens for my digital camera. Being just as cheap as an actual Holga I had very little exceptions of this little fantastic plastic jem. However, on first run (after a slight mod) I am impressed to say the least! More to come after I have used it for a while :)

So right before the crazy of Culture Crawl we headed out to the west coast for some scouting and what not.  Here are some Redscale images from Ucluelet

After getting my ‘morning‘* coffee I took a polaroid of this porsche! Now this Porsche for some unknown reason always seems to pull in to the coffee shop’s parking lot just as I am getting my coffee. This is probably not at all strange to you folk with morning routines and well I know of the idea behind Commuting Friends (people who ride the same bus at the same time everyday and thus become acquaintances/friends) and other things that people with morning routines have. So if I got my coffee at the same time every day I would understand but I am not a creature of habit! Daily routine is truly a foreign concept to me. I am always getting coffee at wildly different times on wildly different days and this Car is always pulling in just as I leave. ODD! Perhaps in the complexity of the universe there are two people that are so without routine  that their non-routine lives are on the same schedule, and these two folk like JJ. Bean coffee! :)

* my morning coffee is rarely in the morning

I was cleaning up a little on friday when I cam across one of my polaroid tins. You see we ship prints, cd’s and such in these snazzy tin containers,

but when one of them is dented or otherwise not fit to send to a client it gets delegated to ride around in my camera bag protecting polaroids on photowanders. So I found one of these the other day & to my surprise there was a whack of polaroids in it that I have never scanned in to share.

So here I am now sharing them with you! :)

Bridal falls

Where I got turned around on the Coquihalla because of crappy tires and lots of snow.

I think were the last of some Polaroid Type 80 Pack film that I had. Shot on the Mamiya RB67 With I am guessing a 90mm lens for the first one and a 50mm lens for the second.  I am quite amazed at how much these faded since I took them in November. I had to bring a lot of contrast  back when I scanned them in because they were nearly faded right out to grey in spots.

These photos are the result of one of the things that I tend to do when I am out taking polaroids with the Mamiya or a Land Camera. I will often take a photo but leave it undeveloped in the camera or film back and then double expose it at a different time/place. Some times I do this intentionally and other time I just mean to develop it in a few moments but completely I forget. Regardless of the intent I have ended up with a few double exposures of late that I think are stupid rad!!

This photo is the product of a complete accident I Shot the photo session with Sera-Lys at the end of March last year where it sat forgotten in the camera for almost a year till I went on a road trip to the Alexandra Bridge near Hells Gate BC and I un-knowingly double exposed it in Hope  BC.

These are photo of the Alexandra Bridge, near Hells Gate and a highway tunnel again taken months apart only this time it was on purpose :)

The Film is the second last pack I have of the Polaroid Blue 100 film shot using a Land Camera 360.

Again it is a crappy scanner so there are blacks and there are whites and not much in between :)

Last week I developed my first roll of Black & White film from the Yachica C down in our darkroom. (side note.. It has been a really long time since I have developed my own film I nearly forgot how to load it) I am quite happy with the results. The DOF with this camera is very shallow, more then I would expect from a medium format f/3.8 so sharp focus will be a bit challenging, but the viewfinder is quite bright and it does have a built in loupe so I should be able to get the swing of it in another roll or two. The bokah is certainly peerrrrttyyy though so a few out of focus will be well worth it. These were just quickly scanned in with my Canon flatbed so the photos are laking in the mid-tones, they are full of moiré where the negatives touch the flatbed, and they are scratched all to hell. :) I am excited to get an Epson V750 and an air compressor installed downstairs in the darkroom. Together they should make short work of scanning in the future.
