Saying goodbye and good luck!
So tonight we had a party to say goodbye to two awesome friends who are moving to the land of ice and snow. IE Calgary.
I made a 8.5 frame per second video to show how much fun we were having and how loaded i really currently am :)
the fact that i can still video edit anything is at this time some what amazing.

so that is why the titles don’t line up and are plan white on black .
and they perhaps use different fonts.

Yup i r loaded

there is an etchasketch involved

and boobs
and perhaps a penis & said boobs.
it was fun

you should watch it
The Cheaper Show
It is the sign of a true artist if you wait till the last minute to submit your artist proposal on the day of the deadline from a crowded bar right? That is what I just did here at On the Edge Pub in Gastown. We are crammed in to watch Canada Kick some US ass & while drinking beer with a laptop I officially tossed in my name to be considered! If you haven’t already you need to RSVP for this show! I could tell you all about it but this video will be far more coherent then this jerk in a bar will :)

Now back to the beer :)

Man, I only just discovered this today. I so wish that I knew about it in December, although we were moving as was everyone else in the world, so maybe it is a good thing… Anyway, I can often be found wondering about how I could go about using my camera for good, and this is such a great concept.
I am definitely going to be keeping an eye on this and hopefully there will be something happening before next Christmas, but if not Christmas is only 303 days away. :)
On another note just got home from Paul’s for breakfast. I stopped in at Beau Photo and grabbed some more Black & White film/developer and a proper 4X5 sheet film rack for developing my Large format negs. I am thinking that I might do some sort of fun video or something all about the dieing art of the darkroom, I am not sure we will see.

Yuppers more of my go Olympic things and take non-Olympic photos :)
This shot was taken from what can only be described as the heart of downtown Vancouver. I was standing on the centre of Robson Granville street. Something i could only do with out dodging traffic because of the Olympic street Closures. Thank you Olympics.

The Month of My Olympic 2010 Photowanders
My goal this Olympics was to photo wander and take photos of non Olympic things at Olympic things.
This for example is the ceiling in the BC Hydro PowerSmart Village

and this is a vent outside the ridiculously big igloo on Georgia street

These are on the beach in false creek

This is the Main street Skytrain station.

Yup Fun stuff. Now I am hungry so we must go and eat!!

Planing on hitting an open mic tonight at Raw Canvas which should be a blast! We went last week and the crowd was really relaxed and the welcoming even when people got up and choked in front of the crowd. I figure it should be awesome! Come watch us.
1 commentRockin out at big white.
I am awake and ready to go. My camera is packed and ready to go, I loaded up on cards and batteries. Just getting ready to head out and discover breakfast somewhere.
On another note I have a bit of a surprise in the works. It is is in the works because I am still working out the tech details. But I will give you a hint. It involves the Olympics, the Internet, iPhones & of course photography.
On another another note. I got word that my new Canon 1D Mark IV shipped yesterday. So hopefully it is waiting for me when i get back from this weekend.
2 commentsIt again has been a busy week.
I know that I keep saying this stuff and keep saying that I am going to get less busy and that whole not so busy thing never seems to happen. BUT I am hoping that next week will be different. This week has been a whirlwind of meeting people, officially unpacking, organizing stuff, & getting our studio ready for a two day workshop. Yuppers we have been host to nearly 100 different peeps in two separate all day sessions from a Southern California photog named becker. It has been great to meet peeps and have awesome lunch/dinners with you all.

I nearly killed myself trying to get the house in order for these two days so I think that i need some sort of a vacation. Conveniently tomorrow I am crammin on to a bus and headed out to Big White for the weekend. So many thanks to Allie for setting this trip up!! Hopefully super swell snow, (I am sure it will be better then here) there will be lots of beer, 50ish cool peeps that I don’t know but I am going to meet. ohhh & beer, did I mention beers, I like beers!
I am at a loss as to what I should take for gear because I am not taking my Xterra so taking my normal everything is not really an option. The 3-5 different types of film cameras & the 2 polaroid cameras in addition to a digital kit that I would normally take places may be a bit overkill :) My goal is to just walk downtown to where I meet the bus so if I cant carry it there with my board, boots, & clothes then it is probably to much stuff :)
Anywho… Here is “the intern” who is not an intern any more, but a full fledged employee, rockin out in blue polaroid form.

See ya on the flip side!
No commentsA Six of pabst, a glitter piñata, and a balloon dog later……
Yup our friend Kimberly had a party for house warming/birthday/just because. It had a large number of projectors and helium, & for the record a large number of projectors with plenty of helium = good times :)

We had a blast at party making a mess and drinking a mess of strawberry liquor, then we went to a place called 24/Thai on Broadway and oakish. Good food and as the name suggests open 24 hours a day :)

We watched a man pee all over a phone booth out side a 7-11 and when he was yelled at he turned mid-stream towards the parking lot with a prominent display of both devil horns and spraying penis! I R drunk/tired so goodnight!

You get a short point form list of some of the things that have been happening in the last month! Some but certainly not all. :)

We played our first show on new years eve
Yup you heard right! We have gotten that first show under our belt. It was a small show & 99% of the audience was close personal friends but It was a show nonetheless. We have assembled a live off the floor recording for all those that may have missed out because you were all to cool for school or my beer.

Oh Ya We successfully moved & we also some how managed to host 5 uber large/awesome parties in a row.
I have been snowboarding only twice thus far this year! (for shame i know) It seems that there is a stupid combination of crappy snow & us being silly busy with time sensitive things
I have also been having fun rocking the cheesy selfies lately as well.

I figure that if you are going to go for the cheese you should have a guitar in hand :)

I have been playing only the little bit of guitar. But I have almost gotten my music room together! Room tour soonish.

Been shooting a full shit tonne of film the last bit but I haven’t developed any of it yet. I did however get keys to the uber Edge Darkroom of utter awesome! so I was down there today pulling out my Darkroom stuff like paper/chemistry/tanks to prepare for all this film that I have taken. I am going to only develop one or two rolls of stuff at a time so I don’t get over whelmed with 700,000,000 exposures all at once. Tomorrow i need to do some running about so I will drop a roll off and maybe get this film party started. I garnered fresh black & white chemistry today at lens and shutter while i was getting them to send a large box of broken camera gear in to canon. I have 2 body’s/three flashes/ & My 70-200 God lens down for the count. Some of this gear is getting stupid old (my one 1D Mark II has been used non-stop since May of 2004. In my world that means an average of 4 to 8,000 + shutter actuations a month and all in the worst conditions. This is the camera that I taking into the oceans or out in the pouring rain. This is the camera that I use in dust that cold choke a camel, this is the camera that I could/would use to beat down an oncoming invasion of brain thirsty zombies. It owes me nothing :)

Because my gear is getting a little long in the tooth I felt it was best to go ahead & buy some new camera gear! More specifically I managed to get a New Canon EOS 1D mark IV (should be here near the end of the month hopefully in time for the Big White Snowboard Trek!) so the film maker in me is super intrigued and the available light photographer in me is nearly ready to pee himself with the idea of usable iso’s in the 12800 range and Enhanced Iso’s (meaning most likely not usable at all) up to 102400 That is a full 5 stops over and above the utterly useless 3200 that I have on the MarkII’s! 5 stops! I can’t even do that with film!! I am also getting a new 5d mark II to round out the second shooter bag. That should be here tomorrow.
No commentsWhen I have time and a home that is not in shambles.
After we move and things are settled down I am excited to use the Omega a little bit more. I have a new polaroid back for some Fuji FP100C action and I have a shinny new box of Polaroid 72 that is calling my name.
Saturday is moving day so anyone that wants to haul heavy boxes can meet us at our new place at 12:30. I am sure you all you who are coming to our variety of parties in the upcoming week know where we are moving to. there will be beer and pizza.

Instead of a Write up About Recording…
….you get photos of us recording. After we move and I am done painting I may finish a long draft about all our new recording adventures, but till then you get photos

Post J&S moving
And I feel all man like from carrying a variety of heavy things about :) Tomorrow I am going to feel all wuss like when the soreness kicks in but for now I am content to be manly man :)
So random photo from a photo walk on Kingsway.

Um That Position Doesn’t Exist Here!
You post a job posting on Craigslist and you might get this guy as an applicant. Seriously let us all listen to him tell us his qualifications and his resume. I don’t know though his people skills may need a bit of work, but his phone etiquette seems to be quite superb :) I heart people!
I Really Really Do!
