w00t New Camera

So the absolutely unbelievable thing happened today. Miranda and I were talking about all the weddings that I have to do in the next two to three weeks (I got one via See Mag, one through Mike, as well as Miranda’s Cousin's) and the amount of money that I am going to make on them. We then started talking about the amount that they would cost in film and well long story short we walked in to McBain camera and with about 900 bux down and no Identification walked out of the store with a Canon 10D Uber Digital Camera. For those not in the know this is one of the coolest Digital SLR Cameras that I know of. I assure you all that I will be posting a lot more pictures and such over the next while :) In fact i hope to do lots of stuff in the next week so I can used to the camera.

w00t I HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!!!

Oh what a glorious thing it is to have central air now I can develop film galore. I am very excited about that. So I have a meeting with a fellow this evening to show him my work and discuss the possibilities of doing his up coming wedding. So I have put together some of my better works and we will see what happens with that. :) After that mike and I are going to go out on a shoot with Carla and Possibly Shane for the evening. I think that we will start the night off with a little bit of High Level / LRT foot Bridge, then head on down to Whitemud Park and putz around there under the Campbell and Quenelle bridges, and then end the evening with a trip down to the end of Anthony Henday Drive. Where there is a great deal of hay bales and crazy barns and such. So that should all be great and fun and stuff :)

Carla

This is Carla who is one of the best models that I have had the pleasure of working with. She is an actress that I knew from many years ago that happened to respond to my ad in See Magazine. These are shots from our first photo shoot around downtown. I have only gone though about three or four rolls of film but I am already over flowing with great shots, and I have many more rolls to go :)

Devon, Nisku, and Beaumont

Today I went for a drive. The drive sorta started at Devon and Ended up back at the city but via Nisku and Beaumont I think that I got some great stuff for this drive. In a single 2 mile area there were about 5 huge rural churches all with great shots, as well as a plethora of granaries and old barns. It was good times indeed.

Job, Tired, and Dirty

Today was a day from heaven and from hell. Today is the day in which I came to the acute and startling realization of just how lazy and out of shape I have become. SO mike calls me up yesterday and lets me know that he has a job for me if I want it. Cleaning up a yard and sweeping out this warehouse for the company that Michelle works for. I think hey why not a good day out and about will do me some good. Then mike says that they will pay about 10 bucks and hour, and me being on my latest money needing kick decide that is a wonderful reason to jump on this offer so I say yes. Well let me spare you the details of the excursion and say that after ingesting about a pound of dust through my nose alone I was finished one of the longest and most grueling 13hours that I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. And it wasn’t that the job was hard or anything it is completely that I have gotten really soft and complacent in the computer world and haven’t really been keeping in shape. So I assume that I will sleep wonderfully this evening being that tired and 100 and some bucks richer.

New job for me

w00t I got a new job today!! I got a call from Jeff @ colorfast this morning and he still sounded really wishy washy so I went and applies at a Canoe and kayaking guiding company called Timberwolf Tours. And well a short story even shorter they called this evening and offered me the job. w00t!!! In other news I took my digicam in to FutureShop yesterday because the grain was getting insane and there were these lines through all the pictures. So I took it in and apparently when you buy the extended warranty for an item and the sales guy/gal says “if you ever have any problems just bring the INSERT EXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC ITEM HERE back in to the store and we will exchange it” he/she really means “I am going to tell you a bunch of bullshit so I can sell you crappy warranty’s that you cant refund and let you find out the truth when you try to redeem said warranty." So to make a short story that is supposed to be shorter, longer. They had to send the digicam off for repair to some other place and I will be with out it for about 6 to 8 weeks. :( But what can you do I suppose. I think that I may get out and about and do some long exposures tonight in the country, however it depends if the sky clears up a bit more. Nevertheless, I do need to take a movie back before 11 so I feel that I better do that now!

One Lone Tree - Photo Friday

This is a shot for this weeks Photo Friday. It is also one that I have been looking for quite some time now. I am still not sure if this is quite it for there is some element in this picture that I don’t quite enjoy. But it is an attempt none the less!

A quote from me

Don’t ask as to the circumstances that surround the creation of this but this is something that I pulled out of the depths of my brain and I particularly like it. So some day when I am famous you all can say that I said this.

"I am far from the perfect social thespian for I am simply clumsy at the performance, apt to forget my lines, and I tend to miss my cues."

Where have I been :)

Happy Canada Day!!! So where have you been you ask :) Well Well Well. Miranda and I went up to Long Island Lake for the extended long weekend. We went up on Friday after she got off work and we got back this afternoon. For those not in the know Long Island Lake is a Lake that is about an hour and forty five minutes north of Edmonton, this is the lake that we all grew up going to for weekends with the family and may long weekend drinking bashes. I had not been back to this place in almost 5 years or more with the exception of an afternoon or so two years ago. We went up and spent Friday night through till Tuesday morning with Miranda's family at a private campsite call the Rod & Gun. It was a very relaxing time and I think that I got lots of good pictures. So that is where I have been for a while. We got back today to a kitten that missed us dearly and a very hot loft. :( They still are putzing with the air conditioning in the building and it is still around 30˚C to 40˚C inside our house. If you are wondering where all the Black and white that I have been shooting is well it is unfortunately to hot to develop film. :( On a different note I went down to the Legislature grounds this afternoon, well it was more like Six O’clock, and started scouting a spot to grab some photos of the fire works. So I ride behind the Terrance Building at the back of the legislature closer to the river and I found the spot of spots right there. Right on I think to my self bit I look around to see all sorts of people sitting down with there snacks, camp chairs, and other such things, and some of these people look like they have been there for a while already. Now it is 6ish and the Fireworks are not till 11 O’clock, and I am thinking to my self that this could be a bad deal if I don’t get here at least at 8ish. So as I am riding away this fellow named Darren with a camera and large LowePro bag flags me down. As it turns out he was a Photographer from Penticton, British Columbia and was in town with his girlfriend for the fire works. So I was able to give him the skinny about the fire works like where they were being shot from, the times that the water fall starts, and the best location to see them. He was there early and was planning on staying and he offered to save me a spot with them. So a long story short I was able to fire off home have dinner with Miranda and putz about at home before going out and I was able to still get a good spot with a great view. Their friends and them self were nice people that were decent company, for the couple of hours that we were there. I was able to get some decent Digital pictures of the fire works and hopefully get some great ones out of the roll of slide film that I have as well. But I am sure that I am blithering on about nothing in particular so I will leave it at that.
