The Film Photoshoot Day
Today I shot with a model named Alicia whom I have worked with a number of times, but always on standard ordinary commercial catalog shoots. Today I really wanted to play with all my film cameras and such so 85% of the shoot was shot on old cameras. This is a just a smattering of the few digital/Polaroid shots that I took today. I will get more up when the film gets all developed.

Some Canon 5d shots

These are from the Polaroid Land Camera shooting Fuji FP100C

Type 600 shot on the SX70

This is the analog product of the day. We have just about every (good) kind of film format known to man :) 120, 35, Type 600, Pack film, Type 55, etc…
Anywho I am off to a pub for food.
8 commentsBand Jams and the Zoom H4
So yesterday was the first revisit of ‘the band’. Yup ‘the band’! You haven’t heard me talk about ‘the band’ in while, mostly because we have all been busy and there was little happening on that front. Well not anymore! We are no longer ‘the band’, we have a name and we are even soon to have a website and everything. (soon being a relative term meaning as soon as I get off my ass and do something productive with that, what I should say is we have a url) Yuppers I would like to introduce you to ‘My Friend Lisa‘
So we got together last night at this jerks studio and sat around my office hashing though the 4.5 songs we have. That doesn’t sound like a lot but it was really hard seeing that we haven’t jammed together since November and most of this stuff hasn’t been touched since then.

You would have some thing to hear possibly if my new H4 had arrived before then. But it did arrive today and i recorded a little snippit to see how well it worked and man alive it is awesome!!
Take a listen that is just in the middle of our living room with the trains rattling on out side and such. AWESOME!!!
Now I’m off to a business function in shorts, tshirt, and weakerthans hoodie. Woot!
2 commentsHanging up a Mountain
I thought that I would come and snowboard for the morning, and rub it in all your faces. Just kidding I have work to do this afternoon I just felt the need to iPhone blog

Seriously a little tide to go and a spot of steam and that there is half a classy job interview outfit just waiting to happen.

4am jackassery!!
So what started out as a quick ‘lets blast off a roll of film and see how it will cross process’ turned into an epic evening of self-portraits and general dicking about. I am setting up to do a old camera film fashion shoot this Friday and I am trying new ways of cross processing out in preparation. There is a roll of 120 film to go with these as well, but of course that will have to wait till it comes back from the lab.

I have a thing with kitchens I don’t know why I just do. The photo never works quite the way I want it to. But every once in a while I try it.

There is no rhyme or reason behind me shooting at my truck other then that was were my tripod was. There is absolutely nothing to say about the headphones other then I was in the mood. They were not plugged in to anything they just seemed like a good prop.

Here is a quad Cam shot of how I saw things really.

All right, I will take Miranda to her cult meeting and have a nap I think or perhaps stay awake and see what happens. I did plan to hit the mountain today for a bit so we will see if that works out. I also have jam with most of the band tonight and I am super excited about that!!
Electrical Back Alley Randomness
I am going to start running electrical conduit to random places.

On a tottaly differnt note I am super excited to see some new snow on Cypress even if it is really a token amount. My plan is to head up tomorrow and see what the mountian is like.
No commentsNight Time Photo Wanders
So this weekend was fun. Friday saw me sitting in traffic for hours while trying to hit cypress for a couple of hours before joining peeps at The Black Frog. I got stuck behind this crazy trucker guy who didn’t know how tall his load was, so he decided to take hours to go under a bridge while police stopped traffic. By the time I got out of that mess I was basically due to start heading back home to meet peeps at The Frog, which was another crazy long time. So there was no snowboarding on Friday but there was eventually the Frog which was good. I drank such copious amounts of coffee that I sorta had trouble sleeping so photo wandering was had.

Saturday was filled with a bit of breakfast at Locus and a bit of work a bit of play, and a return visit to the Frog for a guys night of drinking (ie: a sausage party) where I opted for beer instead of coffee and ended up horribly drunk.
Yesterday was a do not much day. I went to Tom Lee with Darren to check out this Zoom H4 that I was thinking about buying based on a recommendation.
I played with it a bit and decided that it is exactly what I want to record jams with as well as secondary sound for indie films, but I was not ready to pay an extra 100bux because the dollar is low so I bought it online with a bunch of film instead.
Miranda and I decided to drive to Squamish just for the heck of it.

Man the Squamish Taco bell is an adventure to say the least. You have to go in to the store because you don’t get the same experience when you use the drive though. It is a ‘restaurant’ filled with people that normally would be considered to be unemployable, but for some reason they all managed to get jobs there. It is a real adventure you should try it.

quad cam shot of the taco bell
Late last night I couldn’t sleep so hopped in the truck and drove about with an assortment of random cameras and took photos of random places in the dark.

Playing in the studio
One of the joys of having a photostudio in your office is you can mess around with it till the wee hours of the morning drinking redbull and energy panthers. I messed around a lot tonight but this is my favorite!

This vignetteing is actually from the background light as well as the super wide open f/1.2 50mm
2 commentsThe Impossible Project!
Just 29,630,127 seconds to go…. except this is a countdown clock that I can really get behind!. Introducing The Impossible Project. this is something that i will be watching very closely for the next year. It would seem that some people have decided to try and pick up where polaroid left off!!
“We aim to re-start production of analog for vintage Polaroid cameras in 2010. We have acquired Polaroid’s old equipment, factory and seek your support.”
“Impossible b.v. has been founded with the concrete aim to re-invent and re-start production of analog INTEGRAL FILM for vintage Polaroid cameras…. Impossible b.v. has acquired the complete film production equipment in Enschede (NL) from Polaroid, has signed a 10-year lease agreement on the factory building; and has engaged the most experienced team of Integral Film experts worldwide.”
WOW THIS IS AWESOME!!!
This is looking to be what I falsely hoped polapremium was going to be, instead of the one off/old stock, money grab that unsaleable slapped out there. The Impossible folks are upfront about what they are doing and if i dare say they look as though they are the answer to keeping integral (IE type 600) polaroid in our lives for the long term. Go check out the site… send them feedback…give em shout outs on your blogs….lets make sure that these folks can at least make a run of it.
