No commentsWent for a wander on the Island today.
I had a photo session at Granville Island today, and because it was such a wonderful day I decided to wander about a little. Here is a shot from that wander. But I am going to go north and Photo wander with J now, maybe try out some of that new film that the man brought today

A Man In Brown Brought Me A Box Of Film Goodness!!
Yuppers what I say is true, a man in brown (incidentally the same man that sold me my Felt MP, he even remembers it and asked if I was going to ride it today cause it is supposed to be super nice out!) brought me a box of film goodness. Which is a really nice way to start out a week, especially when the previous week ended with a 20hr out of town wedding adventure followed by another 10hr wedding a short 10 hours apart! (what i am trying to say here is i am tired)
As mentioned earlier last week Beau Photo is raping us all for Polaroid film because they can I guess, so I ordered a bucket of film from the good old USA (just doing my part to help them in this time of need). More specifically, I ordered from B&H photo.

This will all make a wonderful addition to the newly cleaned and re-purposed Jerk Film & Beer Fridge Yup I feel like a real adult when I have a fridge that is not filled with food, but it instead is filled with glorious film goodness and beer!! That means you are a responsible adult right?

(for those of you that are all like, What do you eat man if your fridge is nothing but beer and film?, I have two fridges)

Here we have a random variety box of film. Some of these films are new, some are from back when we used to use film as our back up solution at weddings so nearly 4 to 5 years old, and other stuff like the Ilford roll in the back that says 620 Expired in 1956. (I am going to respool it one of these days and see what we can get from it!) so a box of fun is what it is!
1 commentMore VGH
I do have a tonne of new photos that are not from VGH and I have interesting software discovery’s to talk about, but I am not long home from a 20 hour wedding, and I have another wedding tomorrow so you get more VGH instead! :)

I am kinda like a single working mother that got McDonalds in stead of cooking because it is easier. She knows that Mikky D is not good for them, but it is only once in a while so it can’t be that bad :)
I am also really tired :)
and fired up on Redbull:)
good night
No commentsFall Is Fun!
Fall has such great light that comes with it

I have a crazy long wedding in the AM so… ya.
No commentsJust Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should!
The other day Coaxial and I went to Beau Photo to grab some pack film and the like. I love that Beau is making a commitment to stock all sorts of films and the best variety of plastic cameras that I am aware of in the lower mainland, but we were in for quite the shock when we went to pay for our film. Coaxial tossed down their last 10 pack of Fuji FP100C and a twin pack of Polaroid 667 onto the counter and started fishing around for pocket change to pay for it. That will be $78 please.
Errrrr.. What? that doesn’t sound right…. are you sure that we have the right things listed? After some verification over the phone with some mystery character in the back he assured us that this was in fact the new and correct price for their Polaroid film. Now I know that you are the only people in town that somewhat reliably stocks this stuff, and I know that Polaroid has disco’d all of the ‘instant’ product line, and I know that you are a business and you are here to make money, but doubling and in some cases nearly tripling the price of all your Polaroid films is a little silly! I even dug out older receipts to see and last time I bought Fuji FP100C (which they are not even discontinuing) I payed $12.26 for it. They wanted $25!
I came home fired up B&H photo, went to the film section, and bought a whole whack of stuff!
- 2 packs of the Fuji FP-3000B for $9.95 each (I have never tried it, but I hope it is super contrasty)
- 2 packs of the Fuji FP-100C at $8.99 each (that is $16.00 cheaper)
- 1 twin pack of the Polaroid 690 for $25.00 (as opposed to the $42.00)
all for the total price of $43.94. That is 60 exposures with a variety of films for nearly the same price that they wanted for 1 twin pack!!
The way I look at it is that I have somehow saved money so I also grabbed 25 rolls of Kodak Portra 400VC 120 & 35mm and some new colour paper developer for when I get the dark room rockin again!
That aside they are still awesome in other ways. everyone should check out and enter Plastic Photographer

Looks like Fall has arrived at least at VGH anyway
Taken with an iPhone and run though the Camera Bag Ap
The Black Frog Turned 3 Last Night….
….and we all got loaded!! I even drunk blogged although there wasn’t a lot said in that post so you may have thought we were at a poetry reading or something.. Us, the North Shore Crew, D, and G all went down to the black frog’s birthday bash!

BTW thanks to Marion for all the invites we ate free food and drank really cheap drinks till well after they were closed! Good times were had all around!!

We met one of the frog’s new waitresses who prefers to be called Chain Saw Girl, and doesn’t ‘do’ the Internet :) All in all good times were had and i am sure that there are many people really hungover this morning due to Darren and his uncanny ability to know the exact wrong time to start ordering shots! :)

Darren Stole a great many wallets :)

I managed to stay reasonably coherant (mostly due to my uncanny ability to say no to darren’s shots) throughout the evening and I even took some photos and I am doing fine all bright eyed and bushy tailed today. M on the other hand looks as though she will not make it through the day.

Yummy Cross Process
Here we have a shot from the last roll that I cross processed. I pushed the two stops in developing as apposed to in the shooting so this whole roll is super grainy and contrast!

I love it!

… particulalty at this time of year.
This was taken at the Capilano Dam, where we were hiking last weekend.
More VGH Photowandering
So again I had about an hour to kill at VGH while M became a little bit less of a cripple, so I thought that I would spend some time wandering about taking photo glory. I was about forty five minuets in to wandering about, capturing photo gold at every turn, when a security guard who was walking by, said that I wasn’t allowed to take photos. What was funny is he was the fourth or possibly the fifth security guard that I had walked by and openly taken photos in front of and he was the first to say anything and he really didn’t seem to care at that. I said ok and then I asked him why? as I often do when told that I am not allowed to take photos (mostly cause by putting them on the spot you can learn whether or not there is actually a real policy in place or if they are just trying to look like they are doing their job) and I got what I think is the best made up on the spot answer ever. Umm… errrr.. patient confidentiality? I laughed a little inside and continued what I was doing and he continued on his way.

I love it when you see something new….
…especially when it is something new in a place that you have walked by camera in hand a 100+ times.
Anywho i am off to hang out at VGH. Perhaps i will manage to capture some more awesome
No commentsBlack & White in Colour Photos
Today I went for a wander to two differnt Staples stores looking for a particular type of envelope for mailing things. I also happened to have a camera in hand when I came across a whole lot of black and white things, which I chose to shoot in colour. :)

Gastown Drive = Awesome
Yuppers here we are hanging at the free gastown drive-in theatre (and i am blogging via iphones). Once again for those not in the know, there is a 100% free drive-in on the roof of the gastown easypark parkade, & tonight they are playing Eve & The Fire Horse for our viewing pleasure. I can not say enough good about this whole idea. The drive-in is almost one of these things that you would hear when your old grand pappy starts talking about when the subject of the good old days. It is super fun, so being that I think that this is the last one, people should come on down. You don’t need a car for this drive-in cause there is a whole seating area set up as well. It is awesome tonight cause we have all sorts of room and extra seats. we have invited a tonne of peeps though out all of these drive-in nights but no one has taken advantage of it till tonight that is. D even reserved his car in and such and we have a little section of the place, all and all it will be good times.

First Roll From The Pentacon sixTL
You may remember a while back around the end of April that I posted about my trek to the Vancouver Camera Show n’ Swap in which I procured a Pentacon six TL Medium Format Camera. You may also recall that I had loaded the camera with some colour film and that I hoped to shoot it off and have it developed before going to Cuba. Well that didn’t even come close to happening but I did manage to finish that roll off last week, and I have finally scanned the images in to share with you all.
there are three exposures are overlapping here

and at least two here that ended up being on the very end of the roll so they get the clip though them from the dip and dunk
My initial thoughts on this camera? It is a cheap and easy way to get into medium format photography but still keep it simple like most older 35mm, but it isn’t at all like shooting with lets say a well built Mamiya RB67 by any stretch of the imagination. There is of course no such thing as an interchangeable film back so much like 35mm there is no mid roll film changes. The quality of the images and the lens is great, as you tend to get with even the cheapest 6×6 camera’s. (excluding the main soldiers in the plastic revolution of course) However, the inability to reliably wind from shot to shot with out over lap (as illustrated above) leaves a bit to be desired :)
What do I think after shooting this roll? It is a camera with great potential but it is a little difficult to get sharp focus, as it lacks a split screen finder, and the frame overlap is a pain if you care about that sort of thing. :) All in all it isn’t as good out of the gate as say my Seagull was but i think with some love it could take some awesome photos.
No commentsConfusing Road Lines
I grabbed these last night in my parking lot wanders. I am just mildly confused by this all. :)

Double Vision
So last weekend sometime J and I went for a film photo wander around Broadway and such! One of the many rolls that I shot that day was a roll of 35mm colour neg film. (Kodak Portra 160VC to be exact) I shot the entire roll with nothing but nature in mind, rewound the roll and then reloaded it and handed it to J to shoot. I said shoot anything but nature.

There is some good time here I tell ya! I think that we are going to have to dual shoot more in other random cameras.
