Just killin time.
I am just hanging waiting till I go to the dudes side of the wedding prep. I would go a spot early but he asked me to come back at 2:30, so that leaves me with some unadulterated blog time!
They came and finished the floors today. Well we hope they are finished anyway. They may need to give them another coat on Tuesday but we will see. Basically our house stinks to high heaven. I was starting to get high just hanging about this morning. I feel bad for Miranda who is sort of stuck in it all day. There were cleaners that came yesterday to clean up Van Halen’s mess of messes and they did a real bang up job. You almost couldn’t tell that there ever was a sand happy 80′s rocker playing with power tools and pretending to not get paid by the hour. I mean I wish I was paid by the hour for jobs that I then determine how long they should take. I am sure that our four day displacement made him enough money to buy some studio time, or perhaps he could invest in a comb and/or toothbrush or maybe he can now put some new strings on his flying V or something.
So anyway he and his mess are gone and the painter came this morning and said that it would only take about twenty min or so to paint the floor and he was the first person yet to come in and give me an estimate and actually be in and out when he said he would. So we have to wait 24 hours to walk on the floor and 72 until we can move furniture in an such. So barring that there isn’t any huge unforeseen something or other (wait while I load the iPhone knock on wood App and well knock on wood) we should be able to continue the studio renovations that we are in control of this weekend. Starting with some painting and the floor repair where the old wall was. Should be fun anyway! Alright it is about that time now so…..

You should go for a walk with a camera, because in Vancouver this could be considered a gift. :)

For all those people that wanna live in gastown
Only because there is always a ton of people that always ask me about living in our building, I thought that I would let the masses know about this
Yup I think all the details should be on the website livework.ca or phone Wayne at that number
UPDATE!!! – I was blogging this while getting coffee so I didn’t look at the website but it would seem that this it the place across the hall from us!! 411 so if you want to live out side my door you can :P
2 commentsWhen is the best time to blog
Well when you are out for anniversery drinks with your wife of course. We are hanging at Granville Island waiting for a play to start and we saw this sign on a wall. I found it extremely humorous that it says keep OFF not keep OUT. It’s not like this is a building that is meant to have people on it, it is just a normal roof is not accesible kind if building.
No commentsSo I Am Getting around To Talking About Stuff
It has been a crazy busy last few months as the sporadic blogging would show, but i am slowly getting to things and blogging them as I get time. This comes from June when A was visiting. We decided in all our infinite wisdom that the best way to spend a preposterously hot day on a preposterously hot weekend was to climb up to the top of a preposterously tall mountain via a preposterously steep trail. So we found that hiking the Chief in Squamish had just the right amount of preposterousness so the plan was set. Now because we don’t like ourselves and we are interested in making things really hard we felt that we should go to the frog the night before and get good and drunk! So up early we got and after scooping up A, D, & J and a horrible amount of Tim Horton’s grease, off to the great white north we drove.
Now the trail started like this.
and ended up being like this.
It was probably the most work/fun that I have had in quite a while! The triumph that I felt when I looked down and saw my truck as a tiny yellow speck was unbelievable.
1 commentyou can never have too much wicker!

More form the archives of the institute, here we have a wicker chair and and wicker wall in the Waldorf Wicker Tiki bar that A Northern Voice Party was at this year.
Hanging at VGH
Yuppers just hangin around at VGH while Miranda comparison shops physiotherapists. Didn’t have a real camera so I figured I would grab this with the iPhone. Looks great at 2×3 inches :)

Taken and blogged with the iPhone.
Our house. Now with 15% less wall.
Yuppers here we now have a complete lack of wall between the old place and the new one. Thanks coaxial for the hand in the cleanup. I just have to deal up some minor electrical and add a spot of floor and we are solid. The cats are already having a blast with the new and improved hole. Even if Luna had to have a quick bath in the whole process.
No commentsWork & home
So this last week was pretty much the first week that we have had a home and an office in well… forever and i have to say that thus far it is pretty awesome. Hopefully I will get the chance to do a little more wall demo this week and not have to go out into the main hallway every time I need a new kitchen item. We have been doing the ‘move as you need it’ form of moving that is where you leave everything where it is and simply run back and forth for things as you require them. So let’s say you want to make soup? OK well go to the old home/new office and grab a pot, spoon, bowl etc. I figure that eventually we end up moved and what ever doesn’t get brought over by Christmas can go to goodwill cause it is obvious that we didn’t need it anyway. The normal I am moving so lets cull and clean out all our junk is something that we haven’t had the opportunity to do in the the last three moves. In fact we have been moving the same packed boxes from one home to the next for three or four years. I don’t even know what in most of them.
On a different note the PC to Mac data migration is complete. I am now officially using Mac for 95% of everything I do. I still have a PC backup server but that doesn’t really do much other then backup. I say 95% because there is a few programs that I can’t find a mac equivalent for. Programs like Breezebrowser are hard to replace. (and before one you comments and suggests that Adobe Bridge as a replacement it isn’t the same thing. Perhaps one day I will get into breezebrowser and highlight some of it little known features.) I will do the boot camp thing on the imac when I get a chance but for right now I am using the backup server for my minimal PC requirements. I have it on my Macbook but it seems just wrong to load up WinXp on a Mac it is like i ruined it or something. It’s funny cause Mac OSX86 on the PC is Simply the awesome mixed with the cutest kittens possable! It is like you improved a PC 1000% as soon as you see an apple logo as the boot screen.
