You apper to be missing your lower case Y’s

the letter y is kinda over rated.  Its like that family guy sketch when Y comes in to the vowel meeting being all loud and annoying on his cell phone. No one want’s him there! Just like MSN.

Lightroom 2 is no longer a beta

So this Jerk has said goodbye to the PC world and has gone to the light side. Yup we have almost moved our entire workflow over to Mac and part of this move was to be able to functionally use lightroom as part of a viable work flow. Of course it has always worked on the PC just not at all quickly. I can process 100 photos using the canon software DPP and Photoshop in the same time that it would take to do 20 using the PC version of lightroom. I really didn’t know that it was slow until I used it on my first hackintosh setup and was blown away. Lightroom on the Mac OS (even on the same hardware running a hackintosh ie: OSX86) a blazingly fast. So imagine my delight when I read this morning that lightroom 2 was no longer in the beta stage and was released as a full version. I have downloaded the trial version and installed it on the macbook but I had to run out the door so I will take a look at it soon. The Lightroom Killer Tips blog says that there is some new features that weren’t in the beta. So I will look and learn and hopefully report. Anyway today we get a random photo that I was able to fire out of the archives using LR 2 beta. It was taken when I was wandering around one night. Drunk I think i was drunk…. ahh who knows

The Best and Worst can be yours for the low low cost of 1500 bux!!

So I find it funny that Canon has managed to screw up the ultimate lens.  I am talking about the Canon EF 50mm f / 1.2L USM.  It is the ultimate lens.  It has in the matter of three or four months eclipsed all other len’s in my arsenal.  I basically toss that lens on and that’s it. No changing no wishing that I had anything different, just pure 50 1.2 glory.  It also has eclipsed all other lens in my arsenal in other ways.  Mainly ALWAYS BEING BROKEN!!!! Seriously in the short time that I have owned this lens it has had to repaired/replaced three times now!!  The first one broke when I picked up the lens by itself with the lens hood.  Shouldn’t be a big deal right!! Well the entire front of the lens broke off!!! I went storming back into the store that I bought it at (mostly cause this was not long after I bought it) and demanded a new lens.  They eventually conceded and gave me one after canon said it was a defect.  Trouble two happened right in the middle of a wedding ceremony.  I am crouched down waiting for the bride to come down the aisle, and my camera gives me a lens error code. (ya I know most of the canon error codes by heart) After some fiddling (after the ceremony of course) I was able to discern that the aperture blades were sticking together either wide open or randomly around 5.6 to 8.0 and they would do this regardless of what aperture I would set.  Fixed that problem, then now today number three, I was walking home from an engagement shoot with my camera hanging on my shoulder and without anything really hitting it the entire front of my lens fell skittering off onto the sidewalk…..   errr  I paid 1500 bux for this pleasure!!! If it wasn’t the best lens optically that I have ever used I would find the designer and forcibly place it into unpleasant places.  It has a flaw and I call it a flaw cause it is, the front of the lens is held together with three small screws into a preposterously thin plastic. Seriously the lens hood is made stronger and more durable then this plastic lens front is.  Arrrggg…

anyway here is a photo that was taken with the lens a week or so ago.

If you act lile a hobo…

So I have noticed as of late an increasing number of buisness suited men and woman that can be found talking to themselves. I first noticed this when I was wandering around a mall wearing headphones but not listening to music. I discoverd that there were a number of normal looking people wandering about mumbling to no one in particular My other original thought was they were talking on Bluetooth headsets about some huge deal to sell millions of widgets to some one who needs millions of widgets for a healthy profit. However upon closer inspection I realize that they are actualy talking (well mumbling) to themselves. Strange. Makes me wonder that is normal people are talking to themselves perhaps hobos are talking on Bluetooth headsets!

Blogging from my iphone

Yuppers this is a blog that has been fired out via my iPhone. Hurray!!!! It’s great I can post photos and whatever else I may feel I need to share with the world from anywhere at anytime. It won’t mean that I will post any more however, just that I could. :)

I am attaching a random photo from the black frog to this post to see how that works out.

Well this seems to have worked out well. In fact I can’t tell the differance from a regular post and an iPhone one.

Even More New Glory!

So because I loved the macbook so much and my PC desktop bit it when the power came on, I went down to the Apple Store and demanded that they give me a 24″ Imac with 4gigs of ram.  I actually got Sally again (the same apple rep as last time) and not only was she equally as helpful and pleasant to chat with she remembered me and everything!! The student discount was the difference between the 2.8GHz and the 3.06GHz  so a no brainier there! I heart that store!! It is what buying technology should be about!!

I have been rocken the jerk archive

So I have been on a campaign to renew my abysmal headshot portfolio as of late.  You know because I don’t have enough stuff to do. I was rocken though the archives of the institute looking for work that didn’t look to dated and I came across this photo.
Old Head Shots!
Now I will be the first to admit that time is the biggest modifier when it comes to perceptions of my work.  I shoot something now that I think is the cats meow, and in six months I will often not like it.  The opposite could be said about older work as well.  I skipped this the first time around but this time I think it is an awesome shot.  Not quite head shot portfolio work but I do like for other reasons.

Late Nights With Working Internets!

I am hanging at the Waves on main street leaching some Internets and electricity. Mostly because there doesn’t seem to be either at home! this whole no power thing is really no biggy, I more then most am fully capable of enterraining my self with out electricity/gadgets.   I am about ready to go home now but I have made great headway on The Big Surprise that I have been teasing with for a year now.

I also think that I am going to bring back the ill-fated where are my feet posts in the coming weeks.

Power is for wussies!

The sad pinging of depleted UPS’s and the distinct lack of all other computer humming must mean that the power is out right?  Yuppers it looks like G-town is with out electricity this morning! Well how the hell are you blogging then you ask,  well I will tell you! You see it seems that when the power is out and the jerks servers are off he has no ability to really work. (I require the simultaneous operation of at least three computers plus assorted networking equipment to work! I am sure that it doesnt need to be that way but you know i am a geek) so what does a jerk do!! Well he abandons his wife to entertain herself and goes somewhere that has both power and Internet!  (did I mention that I am a jerk?) I had no real/new photos on my MacBook to blog so I trudged along my trusty camera to take some new ones! There are from my search for internet and power!

Well in the time it took me to do/type all this it looks like the power is still out so i guess more wandering is in order! :)
