Exposure Gallery – Call For Submission
I was at beau photo the other day and I came across this flyer on my way out the door! I thought that I would share it with the world.

Just A Tree! Oh & A Green Wall As Well!
On Tuesday I had some errand’s to run so I took my scooter and my camera! I took my time from point A to B and took photos of what I saw. This was a neat wall that I would love to use for a photoshoot! Maybe next week!

Some how I am busy. I have no real idea how that is but I am. I don’t even have a lot on the go it just seems that there is a tonne of stuff that I am not getting done! I blame the amount of sleep I have been getting lately! Well today it stops! No sleep till the work/fun gets done I tell ya! That way I can put more time into the really fun things like photo excursions, band practices, and of course more snowboarding. Our super busy season is creeping up quickly and I am not sure what I think about that, so one must make the best of the time at hand! That starts with the 187 unread inbox items :(
Our first band practice was a raging success yesterday! I simply cannot believe how quickly we meshed right of the start! I went into it with really low expectations and was really really really surprised because we really rocked out well for the first jam ever and my first in 12 to 15 years! So here you have it the much anticipated first jam session of our yet to be named band! This is our cover of a song by one of my favorite now defunct bands called Rainer Maria. Yuppers even though we may rock for an hour of playing together I don’t think we are quite ready to book the Cobalt quite yet! Give us a week or so!
4 commentsThe yet to be named band has had its first practice…
…and Man we had fun!! I seriously don’t think that I could have had more fun with my clothes on!! I am already excited for next weeks jam!!! I have a mp3 of one of the songs that I can post up later but for now I am also exhausted so I am going to crash out!!
No commentsBlue Skys & Dead Trees?
It must be Calgary! More specifically Calgary in the winter! A fun photo from the Great Matt Good Road trip in the fall of 2007! An epic road trip where we made sure to leave absolutly no white trash bar untouched and despite the prevalence of mullets and AC-DC karaoke I had a great time!! I think it was the drugs that they added to the Pilsner (we were in Pil country after all)
This one is an after dark photo that I managed to hand hold at some currently unknown yet ridiculously low shutter speed. the fact that I am sure I was wide open at 1.4 and was most likely at ISO 10billion. Not to mention that I probably took 6 in a row and then choose the clearest one has nothing to do with it. It was all skill people! all skill :) I could dig out the raw file and check the exif but I am sure that this is less work! :)
No commentsSave time?
I can not begin to tell you how much time has been wasted in life using the simple antiquated method of shirt removal.
No commentsOh… Look I Am Teaching!
So as I may have told some of you M & I both presented a quick 15 min session on lighting at this years northern voice. M did a fantastic job on her presentation of natural lighting and I focused on using flash and other forms of modified lighting! Now you can all see the presentation thanks to the fantastic video and sync work of someone (I am not sure whom) at Singular Productions.
It was funny to see that myself up there talking much more coherently then i had thought i did. (it was the first time i had done a presentation like this) and yet I can see that there was things I could have talked about more or better, but its hard with only 15 min.
No commentsTaking a break is fun!
Taking a break that is mandated by a fire alarm is not so fun! Yup so at 12:50 today the fire alarm went off which is what fire alarms are want to do, and in our building it happens more often then it should. So today when it went off I wasn’t all that concerned, I at a leisurely pace got my shoes on and grabbed leashes and bags for our cats, and pulled out the backup server for possible transport, and all very of this at as is said a very leisurely pace! Miranda ignored the fire alarm altogether and continued to work on her blog. Once I have everything ready I went and hung out at the window and contemplated playing a spot of guitar to practice for this weeks jam session! instead i watched the boats out on the water near Canada place, and just basically did everything but evacuate! :) After a bit when I started to smell smoke I decided that maybe it was time to think about leaving, and after gathering our things (ie: cats, laptops, and backups) we left out the front door and into the crowd. We meet our clients that we were to meet at 1pm at the front step and chatted as best we could with howling kittens and fire truck sirens. We also got to meet some of our neighbors (which in my experience a fire is the best time to socialize) We even had hobos asking if they can carry our computers for us and when that was denied they then asked us for change! (it would seem that crowds of people are hobo magnets in our neighborhood!) All said and done it would seem that the elevator control box caught on fire and will shut down the elevator for two or three weeks. So that should be fun being that the stairwells are all locked but Anyway I have a meeting, so ya we are fine and the cats are happy to be home!!!
2 commentsNice Day For A Wedding Show.
So today we are off to veil the un-wedding wedding show in North Vancouver. So we are going to be spending the better part of the day doing that but after we should be catching inner with the north shore crew. I thought I would be super tired today and would want nothing more than to sleep in, but I am wide awake and ready to tackle a tonne of talking. it will be fun! So I will leave you with another photo of the UBC forestry Building

But I will leave you with a photo of the forestry building at the UBC Campus where NV08 was at.
1 commentLight Painting as it happens
Yesterday I went to Rachel Ashe’s session on light painting at Photo Camp! Brilliant!

Here we have Boris getting this photo taken!
Like Hail On A Tin Roof!
Sitting here in this lecture hall listing to the clicky clacky of thousands of keystrokes as bloggers blog, and people edit wiki’s and type what ever it is that they are typing, i am simultaneously stunned but the absurdity of it all and equally amazed by the beauty of it all.
No commentsHanging at Northern Voice!
So I have a blog post that I have been working on for a while to talk about Northern voice but I have way to much that I want to say all at once and as such it hasn’t been completed and won’t till maybe Monday! So then as apposed to blasting a ridiculously long post out after it’s all done (that everyone would have scrolled quickly past in their rss reader so it shows as being read. I know you do and I am ok with it) I figure I can bust it up into small non-chronological posts.

Northern Voice is cool I thought it was going to be not unlike Cheers (the tv show from the 80’s not the shout of encouragement or approval) where everyone knows everyone else’s name and they are all friends. I feared that I was going to be that guy that sat at the table by the door in one episode smack in the middle of season 3, the guy that had a fleeting moment of fame in the background boca as the camera followed Frasier from the door to his usual perch on the left side of the bar! I was worried that there was going to an in crowd that I wouldn’t be a part of so why bother. It so isn’t that way at all!
I Really Wanted This Photo!!
and it took forever to get but i finally was able to.
…and no I am not hanging in the middle of traffic! The bridge was closed to clean up an accident (non fatal so that is good) so I walked along hopped the rail and took the photo! There is something about hanging in places that you are not supposed to hang that makes it really cool! Especially when you are on foot in a realm devoted to cars!! No to try and get it at night!
3 commentsMore from the Michelle shoot.
This is a photo from part two of last Thursdays photo shoot. We just popped down to our parkade for some photo fun. Again Sarah did a fantastic job with the makeup/hair and Michelle looked fantastic! Good fun all around!

1 commentYesterday I Found Cherry Blossoms…..
…….. and oh ya did I mention that it is February! Ha all you suckers that live in e-town (you know who you are) you have crappy winter and I have Cherry Blossoms!
1 commentDisco, Dinosaurs, & Now Polaroid.
So I am not one to usually advocate these sorts of things for they tend to fall into the realm of Crap and other useless BS, but I will promote this one.
Save Polaroid Film!! OR www.savepolaroid.com
Now I am not naive enough to think that sending 5000 or 10,000 signatures to Polaroid will make them reverse their decision to stop making something that isn’t making them money. They are a company not a socialist nation! We are talking instant film here!! A medium that provides inferior image quality when compared to even the most crappy cell phone camera! We are not curing cancer. (ironically I am sure this film actually causes cancer) we simply wanna dabble in old camera futility. But yet here I am toting this as something you should do. I like Polaroid film and Polaroid’s decision to stop making it doesn’t mean it won’t exist anymore it will just be expensive and hard to get. Fuji still makes pack film (in fact the Fuji FP-100C is far superior to 100 speed Polaroid film, but the black and white FP-100B sucks) and they should see the sales increase with Polaroid out of the market! Heck they may even expand their line (I doubt that would ever happen) The point is I can hope that 5000 or 10,000 or 500,000 of us can change the minds of some corp executives that make much more then I do, I just don’t think it is likely.
This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.
4 commentsparty = awesome!
So we had an awesome party last night even if I did drink way to much! I crashed out before most people even left, it was a little rough this morning but after breakfast I was doing ok :)
So thanks to all who came it was fun because you were all there! (other wise I would have been sitting around drinking by myself and that would have been really pathetic) the jackalope even made an appearance and spawned a possible new name for the band.
Wicked times with some wicked people. Thanks for coming!!!
No commentsWinter? Here? Nahhh!
Well the News at 11 was an hour late but here you all are. Today as I said before I went up a mountain with a new model Michelle. I had a snowy forest idea and Sarah Bergeest was able to work her magic in the makeup & hair department! They both were troopers dealing with ridiculous amounts of snow and rain, as well as having a good time! (that’s hard to do without a snowboard under ya. ) I wish I had a video crew to follow us around because dealing with the 10ft of snow was hilarious and should been seen!!! I say 10ft mostly because I don’t know!! I kept sinking to my waist and not touching the ground so who knows how far that went!!! Anyway here is a photo
