Das auto and pure laziness

Ahh well I am sure that unless I spend some quality time with my laptop at Keegans over the next few days that this will be the last time a post for at least 5 days. You see I have 5 days off starting tomorrow so I wont have all this extra time to spend on blogging and such :) 5 days off is going to rock! It will give me loads of time to catch up on some things that are well over due for example I may be able to actually finish the website. (I mean that is only over due by seven or eight months) Plus there will be ample time to have a beer or two with the Tiger when he comes rolling in to Hellbera and graces the town of Edmonton. It should be good times. We are also shooting a wedding this Sunday as well. It is just a small wedding that should be a nice warm up, for the upcoming weddings that we have before and after our trip east.

About our trip east we are getting excited and we are putting the much needed money in to the golf. This Friday it is getting new Shocks/Struts and mounts, which will stop that nasty clunking that happens when the shocks are extended fully when turning corners. They have actually gotten really bad over the last while, grabbing a roof rack with one hand I can shake the car back and forth so far that the tires are literally buried in the wheel well. They are really that bad it is no exaggeration. They have been that bad for about a year and a half now and we have been lazy/busy and have never taken it in. We got a quote about it about two years ago. We are also getting the power steering looked at and fixed. I am uber excited about that. Because it has gotten really tough to steer lately, and it feels like I am going break the steering column or something when turning corners. :). Later next week we will get new tires and tint the rear windows and we are good to go :) The tinting is because we are going to crash in the back of the golf instead of paying for hotels and campsites the entire time. By dropping a bit of money into the tinting we are going to save a shit load when it comes to accommodations. Because even the cheapest of cheap campsites are 12 to 15 dollars a night and that would work out to 400ish dollars for the trip. Now we can cut that expense right out all together. That be what we call good times.

On a different note here is some shots from the triathlon that happened a couple of weeks ago (you know the day that the sky fell in the form of water and hail)

I didn’t get many good shots due to the weather and wha6t have you but I thought I would post some up here.

As well here is a shot or two from our Magazine shoot.

Damn those Hamburgers

So I realize that I have been gone again as per usual but it would seem that I am having trouble in the post a blog entry at least once a week. I will however dispatch the usual apologies that exist in all but a few journal entries. I have been busy and I am afraid that the photo journal is low on the list of priorities. I should really just draft this as a standard apology and stick it in the beginning of every entry. In fact if I was better at the code I could build a Moveable type plug in that when you start a new entry it would pop up and ask the pertinent info and then post a polite little prologue to all entries. Any who I am blithering on about the same old shit. I am at (yup you guessed it) work, getting paid to chat at you all.
Both Miranda and I fell victim to a milder case of food poisoning on the weekend. It may have been the hamburgers that we had at the work barbecue fun day on Sunday. It may have been something else but we are not sure. Needless to say we were not really up to much yesterday, I slept for the better part of the day and most of the night and I am still feeling crappy.
But enough whining about my health :) We have been busy with other things as well over the last couple of weeks. We have been doing these crazy photo shoots for the South Asian Bridal magazine over the last few weeks with elaborate dresses and hair and Makeup done to the nines. It is has been good times to say the least I should have some examples of the shoots posted here for your viewing pleasure soon. On a totally different note last night when Miranda and I were feeling ill we rented movies, First one that we rented was Skarsky and Hutch, we rented it on the advise of a friend that said that is was funny. Well while it had its moments it was not that funny. The other movie that we rented was called Kitchen Stories (Psalmer fr?n k?ket) which is about a researcher that was working with a Swedish design company to observe the habits of people in there kitchens to help design a better more efficient kitchen. The researcher and the cantankerous old man that he has been assigned to observe begin to become friends. It also is intended to be a comedy, and again while it also had its moments it was not super funny either. (But it was much better then Skarsy and Hutch) Was a much better movie then most so I would recommend that if you have a free evening to rent it.

Beat up with hail

So I am sure that some of you have heard about that crazy hail/rain storm that we had yesterday? You know the one where about 15cm of precipitation fell in a few minutes. I had gone to the Triathlon at Harwalak park with intentions of getting some awesome photos of the athletes catch them biking, swimming, and running with determined pained looks. So when I left home the sky was mostly clear and the sun was out, life was good. I thought to my self I don’t need a jacket or anything it is fantastic weather out today. It would seem that I was horribly wrong. Everything fared out Ok with the small exception of my laptop. It got wet and the screen is doing this funky brighter/darker blotchy thing. But it has slowly been improving so I think that it will do fine. I on the other hand was walking up the Hill from the park when the main hail started to fall. The Hail wasn’t that large but man even a marble at high velocity can really hurt. I came home with little welts and I am super sore today.

On another not we have a photo shoot with Puja tonight. I think we are doing jewelry and what not.

Full Moon?

Last Day for a few days and I cant begin to express how happy I am about. You see it has been a long long time since I worked 6 days in a row and I am not really used into doing that sort of thing anyway. It has been an odd 6 in a row filled with crazy people and pre full moon foolishness. I think that I should book time off around the lunar cycle to avoid the ones with issues and those out on a day pass. But I am done for a few days after today. Just 7.5 hours of people screaming at me to stop tapping their phones and the other people who are so important that they need there phone to working in case they might get a call from Michel Jackson or The President. It is going to be a long 7.5 hours :) Even on my walk to work Jasper ave looked as though there was a prison break from Panoka and the getaway vehicle made it to Edmonton. Jasper ave is normally a magnet for the oddities of society but today the walk to work was kind of like a scene from an odd B-movie. There were multiple people with eyes going in different directions stumbling about mumbling to them selves about the voices that were instructing them. Others were talking earnestly to no one in particular and one fellow was frantically examining his shirtsleeve looking for the drugs that were given to him. Now these are not that unusual of occurrences on Jasper Ave, in fact a few of the crazies that I saw were what you could call regulars, or resident loonies but the thing that made it so strange and surreal was the ratio of crazy to normal that were wondering about. Usually there is one crazy for every 10 or so business suit / general person. Today how ever I would estimate that the ratio has actually flipped. Truly it was an entertaining walk to work.

Eureka

So Here I am sitting in the only all night dinner in Edmonton that I would feel comfortable being at all night, leaving my car in front of , and that is not Humpty’s. Yup you guessed it:) Keegans. The place that was at one time my second home. (Some may argue that it was my home an the other place I talked about was really made up in my head) I haven’t really been here a great deal over the last 6 months and I was just taking a break for a moment to think about why that may be. The only logical conclusion that I can come up with is that when you mix coffee, The Jerk and ugly vinyl seats you will end up with a concoction that is utterly repulsive to waitress, cooks, and restaurant mangers/owners. It is like a 12 year old child with a chemistry set, learning about mixing benign chemicals to make horribly volatile concoctions. See I have spent probably a third of my adult life in a coffee shop or diner of some sort (you may think that it is pathetic but that is the way I am) and I have discovered that regardless of how neat and tidy I keep my table, how polite I am to the staff, and how much I tip, I am always treated like I am a rotting leper. At first I thought that it may be a irrational fear of the laptop, You know an misplaced distrust of technology, or a odd penis envy issue, something of that sort, but after much deliberation I have determined that it has nothing to do with the possessions that I bring and that it has every thing to do with my actual presence, and coffee shops. At first I thought that it may be me in general but I eventually abandoned this form of reasoning because I have other pleasant interactions with people and I am able to exist in rooms with other people and not utterly repulse them (or least if I do they are polite enough to not vocalize their distaste) The only waitress that I ever was on extremely good terms with was Donna (and I still think she didn’ like me and was just good at hiding it) and well Donna is gone and what am I left with other then an empty coffee cup? a life long coffee shop dilemma. Maybe Vancouver will bood better in this regard. Oh well we will have to wait & see. It is not really good for the self esteem though. It can be hard spending so much time in a place that you are not wanted, I think however, that I will work it out with out much therapy.
Any way I am blogging and I am not at work… crazy eh? I am taking a break from working on the rphoto website, I am going to try and return to the The Jerk that I used to be before I started to wear out like cheap jeans. I feel that I am rusting from disuse and I sort of getting a little sick of it. I really am the sort of person that needs to be doing something all the time, and being sick is kind of hard on me because while I want to do so much I didn’t have the energy to do what I need to get done much less what I want to tackle. I am just bitching and moaning so you can ignore me. But we I think that I should get back at it and try and actually get something done tonight, :)

Yup Yup….

So it is Sunday and here I am at work. I am getting paid time and a half to be here and I am feeling pretty good about that. I have been mostly absent over the last few weeks, absent on my blog, my email, in fact I have been mostly absent from my life in general. Mostly due to a constant ichey ill flu type feeling that has been basically incapacitating me for the last while. But I resolve to say fuck you to the flu like symptoms and I will them to leave me alone because I am tired of being sick. So I am going to will my body to kick this shit to the curb and forget that I have been sick altogether. I figure that a good way to begin this self imposed regiment of health and splender is to start blogging again, so here I am, shitty grammar and all.

We bought studio lights since my last post and well while they are fantastic we are questioning the purchase of this particular brand. The set of lights that we bought are 500 watt Opus lights, they are are fantastic, well they are Fantastic when they are working I should say. They decided to stop working in the middle of a photo shoot where we had a number of models who had spent an hour each getting hair and makeup done only to have no lights to shoot with. So we took them back in to Carousal Photo (where we bought them) and they are going to send the lights in to the manufacture to see what’s wrong. No big deal, they gave us a loaner set on studio lights to use, so no problem right? Well what makes us question the actual brand of lights is the loner set, which is the same brand as our newly purchased lights, have a problem right out of the box. MMMMmmm….. I am not sure if this is a good sign or not.
But ya I am almost done work so I go away now and i will post more later
